Things We Wish We Could Say Out Loud – Public Service Shootings

Reading, watching and listening to the local Toronto news, it is easy to thing that the city have become a war zone, with shootings going on night and day. And, of course, any shooting is an unfortunate thing.

That said, I do start to wonder whether the hand wringing is a way for many to avoid saying what we wish we could say, that we don’t really care about many of the victims. The lives of gang members are not a big deal. One less is a public service.

We are worried more about collateral damage. Watching Louise Russo on CBC reminds us that bystanders can be hurt when thugs start shooting.

Let’s be honest. We want to protect the innocent. We don’t really care about criminal on criminal violence until it spills over to innocent citizens.
